§ Mr. Hornerasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science on what grounds he has decided to discontinue making financial grants towards the administrative costs of area associations of the Amateur Athletic Association.
§ Mr. Denis HowellNo such decision has been taken. Grants under the Physical Training and Recreation Act, 1937, are made by the Department towards the costs of administration of the Amateur Athletic Association and of its national coaching scheme. Grant for the current financial year amounts to £21,500 an increase of £4,500 over that for last year. The grant includes assistance towards the salaries of two area administrators 119W appointed by the Amateur Athletic Association. The Sports Council is currently discussing with the Association its plans for development over a period of years. One meeting has already taken place and another is arranged for a few weeks time. The Department will then consider the question of grant to the Association for the year 1966–67.
