§ Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware that his prison regulation that a sentence must be served in the country in which it is imposed inflicts on Scottish prisoners sentenced in England an additional hardship because it prevents or impedes their receiving visits from relatives, imposes expense and trouble on the relatives and increases traffic in the transport services; and if he will change this regulation so as to allow such prisoners to be transferred to their country of origin.
§ Mr. RossA person sentenced to imprisonment is committed to a prison in the country in which he is sentenced; but under Section 26 of the Criminal Justice Act 1961 the responsible Minister may make an order for transfer to another part of the United Kingdom.
