§ 12. Mr. G. Campbellasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is aware of the susceptibility to leptospirosis of Charolais cattle imported into the United Kingdom; and what effect this will have on breeding stocks in Scotland.
§ Mr. RossI am aware that some of the Charolais cattle recently imported were found to be infected with leptospirosis, but there is no evidence that they are any more susceptible to the disease than any other breed. The rest of the animals have now been released after being repeatedly tested with satisfactory results and there are no grounds for expecting any ill effects to breeding stocks anywhere in this country.
