§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations what talks he has had with representatives of the Ghanaian Government with a view to the cessation of tobacco purchases by Ghana from Southern Rhodesia, in furtherance of Her Majesty's Government's policy of sanctions.
§ Mr. Cledwyn HughesRepresentations about this were made to the Ghanaian authorities before Ghana severed relations with us on 15th December. The Ghanaian Government took action to ban trade with Rhodesia on 7th January. We welcome this decision. We regret that it was so long delayed.
