HC Deb 28 February 1966 vol 725 cc176-7W
54. Mr. A. Royle

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement on the safety of British subjects as a result of the recent coup d'état in Syria.

Mr. George Thomson

Our Ambassador in Syria has been in touch with a substantial number of British subjects in Damascus and they are all safe and sound.

Her Majesty's Consul at Aleppo, who was in touch with our Embassy at Ankara by telephone on the morning of 24th February, reported that all is well with the British community there.
