§ 79. Lady Tweedsmuirasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations whether he will make a statement on the present situation in Cyprus and the extension of the United Nations peace keeping force after the end of March.
§ Mr. BottomleyAlthough the situation in Cyprus is at present relatively calm, little progress has been made towards a settlement of the dispute and the danger continues that armed conflict between the two sides may be renewed. As regards the extension of the United Nations peacekeeping force after the expiry of its current mandate on 26th March, I have nothing to add at present to the reply 197W given by my hon. Friend on 14th February to the Member for Moray and Nairn.
