HL Deb 24 February 1966 vol 273 c454WA
LORD SALTOUN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the present state of the litigation between the various parties as to the custody of the St. Ninian Treasure, and, if it is concluded, what the judgment has been in the case?

LORD HUGHES

The Crown's claim to the St. Ninian Isle Treasure was disputed by the University of Aberdeen and by Mr. James Budge, the proprietor of the land on which the Treasure was found. In the Outer House of the Court of Session, the Lord Ordinary found in favour of the Crown and on appeal to the Inner House this decision was upheld. There was no appeal to the House of Lords.

House adjourned at half-past ten o'clock.
