§ 38. Mr. Fisherasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which of the recommendations of the Newsom Report on Secondary Education have been accepted; which have been rejected; and which still await decisions.
§ Mr. RedheadThe main recommendation for Government action was that the school-leaving age should be raised and this has been accepted. The other recommendations were by no means confined to departmental action, and I am satisfied that they have been taken seriously by the local education authorities and the schools. In particular, the important recommendations about the curriculum have been given high priority by the Schools Council.
