§ Mr. RedheadInterest in rural studies is widespread among schools, and not only among country schools. The Department's pamphlet "Schools and the Countryside" continues to attract interest and the Department is organising, as in126W previous years, short courses for teachers in rural studies and allied matters. There is an increasing number of field study centres organised by local education authorities and other bodies. The Schools Council is engaged in work on rural studies.
