HC Deb 22 February 1966 vol 725 c58W
75. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations if he will make a statement on the effectiveness of his restrictions on imports to Rhodesia and on his future plans in that respect.

Mr. Bottomley

This ban has been completely effective as regards crude oil. Refined petroleum is reaching Rhodesia from South Africa in quantities which are causing the British Government concern and representations are accordingly being made to the South African Government.

The British Government have no plans at present to impose restrictions on the import of other goods into Rhodesia.
