§ Mr. CallaghanComprehensive figures are not available but the value of United Kingdom private direct investment (including oil) and portfolio investment in Africa at the end of 1964 is roughly estimated to have been in the range £1,400–£ 1,500 million, which is about 15 per cent. of the value of the corresponding investment in all overseas countries.
