HC Deb 21 February 1966 vol 725 c32W
Mr. King

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer to what extent, in considering the appropriate level of sterling balances in Great Britain, he has taken into account the demand that will be made on them by a Zambian boycott of Rhodesian imports.

Mr. MacDermot

Financial as well as other possible repercussions are taken into account when considering any possible developments in the Rhodesian situation. The effect of this particular hypothetical event on the level of sterling balances as a whole, however, is not something that could be foreseen with any certainty.
