§ Mr. Biffenasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will list the tonnage of pigmeat produced in 27W the United Kingdom in 1965, the expected tonnage for 1966, and the forecast for 1970 inferred in section 1 of Part II of the National Plan.
§ Mr. John MackieUnited Kingdom commercial production of pigmeat rose from 818,000 tons in 1964 to a record level of 890,000 in 1965. Production during 1966 is expected to show some decrease. In Part II of the National Plan, the agricultural industry has estimated that, taking account of the expected growth in demand, it would be technically possible to increase the output of pigmeat by 125,000 tons between 1964 and 1970; while in Part I the Government state that pigmeat can make a substantial contribution to our increasing requirements consistently with our commitments to our overseas suppliers.
