HC Deb 21 February 1966 vol 725 cc36-7W
Sir A. Meyer

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that no telephone has yet been installed at Linden House, Parlaunt Park, Slough, and that there are no facilities for any of the 96 tenants of this block of flats to make emergency telephone calls; and whether he will give priority to the installation of a telephone in the caretaker's flat.

Mr. Benn

There is a public call office about a quarter of a mile from Linden House and another a little further away. A tentative order for two coin box telephones and a telephone in the caretaker's flat was placed last October, but a firm order was not given until 18 February. The telephone for the flat and one coin box will be fitted next week. The second coin box will be provided as soon as practicable.

Five subscriber's lines have been ordered for Linden House but I am sorry it will not be possible to provide them until Slough exchange is relieved later this year.
