HC Deb 21 February 1966 vol 725 c16W
79. Mr. Heffer

asked the Minister of Health what steps he is taking to induce general practitioners to develop the appointments system in Liverpool; and what success has been achieved to date.

Mr. K. Robinson

Appointments systems have been commended to family doctors generally, but have been little adopted in Liverpool. Their development should, however, be encouraged here and elsewhere by the introduction of the new contract which I hope will soon be offered to family doctors, and which provides in particular for direct payments in respect of the salaries of the staff needed for the purpose.
