§ Mr. Terence L. Higginsasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, whether Her Majesty's Government will take steps to invite an international seminar of the United Nations Status of Women Commission to be held in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. George ThomsonI will bear in mind the hon. Member's helpful suggestion, which I assume refers to the seminars held under the United Nations Advisory Services Programme. But we are providing host facilities for an international seminar under this programme on another320W subject in 1968. I do not think we can now invite one on the status of women as well. It may be difficult, in any case, to fit an international seminar on the status of women into the United Nations programme for some years hence but we shall watch the position carefully.
