§ Mr. PadleyHer Majesty's Government are sympathetic to the aims of such organisations. It is not our practice to bring diplomatic pressure to bear in support of non-governmental organisations. The independence and impartiality of these organisations are essential to their work.

Teelingasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps he took in recent talks with the Rumanian delegation visiting the United Kingdom to urge them to implement Article 3 in the Political Clauses of the Paris Peace Treaty 1947, guaranteeing the enjoyment of human rights and of the fundamental freedoms.
