asked the Minister of Transport why she has not included the Tonbridge Bypass in the recently announced programme of major road building schemes.

This important scheme is already in the programme announced in 1962. But its place is under review because its cost as estimated by the responsible highway authority has greatly increased. Engineers of the Kent County Council are in touch with our divisional road engineer about this.
