HC Deb 09 February 1966 vol 724 c69W
96. Mr. Crawshaw

asked the Minister of Transport if she is aware that in the next few years Liverpool will be the only large city not connected to a motorway; and if she will amend the present programme in order to rectify this situation as soon as possible.

Mr. Swingler

We agree that Liverpool should be effectively connected with the M.6 as soon as possible. How quickly will depend on the relative priority of the proposed South Lancashire Motorway in our national plan for the improvement of the inter-urban road system in the 1970s. It cannot be done within the existing programme to 1970.
