asked the Postmaster-General what are the reasons for delay in the installation of telephones in the Eltham area.

I regret these delays, but the Eltham exchange is exhausted. A relief scheme now being installed will enable us soon to begin to connect about half of those now on the waiting list. A major extension is planned to be ready towards the end of 1968 and until this is brought into service an increase in the waiting list will be inescapable. Building works to take a further extension are being prepared.
