HC Deb 09 February 1966 vol 724 c112W
Mr. Duffy

asked the Minister of Labour for which of the principal items that enter into average weekly household expenditure spending in the East and West Ridings of Yorkshire was greater than that of the United Kingdom as a whole, in the three-year period 1961 to 1963.

Mr. Gunter

After allowing for sampling variations, none of the ten major groups which make up total household expenditure showed higher averages for the East and West Ridings of Yorkshire than for the United Kingdom in the three-year period 1961 to 1963. Within these major groups, average amounts spent on the following individual items of expenditure were higher for the East and West Ridings of Yorkshire than for the United Kingdom—fish and chips, margarine, beer, radio and television rental and licences.
