HC Deb 09 February 1966 vol 724 c99W
159. Mr. George Y. Mackie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland why £220 was deducted from the cereals deficiency payment due to Mr. J. Younger of Hoy, Caithness.

Mr. Ross

This sum was deducted in respect of a debt due by Mr. Younger for drainage work carried out by the Department of Agriculture. Mr. Younger has since pointed out that the sum was payable to the partnership of himself and his son, not to himself alone. In the circumstances, the £220 has now been paid and other arrangements are being made for the recovery of the debt.
