HC Deb 09 February 1966 vol 724 c75W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Minister of Transport if she will consult the Manchester Ship Canal Company, the local authorities and other interested parties, with a view to improving traffic flow over Barton Bridge, in particular at peak hours.

Mr. Swingler

The standing committee of local interests which the Manchester Ship Canal Company have set up to assist them in reconciling the needs of shipping using the canal and of road traffic has recently agreed, for the evening peak, revised times between which the bridge is not to be swung except for ocean-going ships. The committee is now considering a revision of the times for the morning peak.
