HC Deb 04 February 1966 vol 723 c297W
Mr. Hobden

asked the Postmaster-General what was the average period of time during which public telephones damaged by vandals and thieves during the past three months in the Brighton area were out of service.

Mr. Joseph Slater

There were about 100 cases of wilful damage to the 400 kiosks in the Brighton area during the last three months. Many were cleared quite quickly, but 47 of the kiosks cannot be brought back into full service because the sheer scale of the damage has caused a temporary shortage of replacement parts. We have ensured, however, that emergency call facilities have been made available.
