§ Miss Jennie LeeThe idea of subsidised travel is spreading: the Arts Council has agreed to extend its scheme, and a further regional Arts Association is proposing to introduce arrangements for this in 1966–67. The Department gives every encouragement to theatre, opera and concert managements to provide seats at reduced prices for special groups. I am anxious that apprentices as well as students should be able to benefit from such schemes. Proposals for extending the opening hours of museums and art galleries are being formulated, and are being discussed with the staff interests concerned.
