HC Deb 02 February 1966 vol 723 c238W
111. Mr. Gresham

Cooke asked the Postmaster-General what progress is being made in his measures against telephone kiosk vandals; whether all possible alarm systems are being urgently considered, including those suggested by private enterprise firms; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Benn

As I told the hon. Member on 27th October, I am stepping up measures to safeguard our equipment; 237 thieves were caught in the last six months against 80 in the same period the previous year.

The answer to the second part of the Question is Yes. Alarms are already in use by the Post Office.
