HC Deb 02 February 1966 vol 723 c250W
Mr. Wall

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies what Government assistance is being made available, or will be made available, for the Oxbow scheme in Basutoland.

Mrs. White

Colonial Development and Welfare grants totalling £88,632 were made available up to March, 1963, for a hydrological investigation of the Oxbow scheme. A further grant of £83,190 has been made up to the end of 1965–66 for a hydrological survey to evaluate the water resources of Basutoland generally, including continuation of the Oxbow investigations. Consideration is now being given to an application for an additional grant to enable a project report on the scheme to be produced.
