§ Mr. Dempseyasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what cost he has approved for the second phase of the piping and infilling of the Monkland Canal at Coatbridge; what is the amount of Government grant approved; and what is the estimated completion date for the project.
§ Mr. RossThe scheme for the second phase of infilling the canal is provisionally estimated to cost £175,000. The amount of grant cannot be determined until more precise costs are known, but I am glad 245W to say that the grant arrangements will be the same as for the earlier phase of the work. The timing of the work is a matter for the town council but I understand that it may be some two years before the work is completed.
