HC Deb 02 February 1966 vol 723 c233W
101. Mr. Manuel

asked the Minister of Transport if she will agree to meet the hon. Member for Central Ayrshire with a deputation of local authority representatives at an early date in order to discuss objections to the proposed withdrawal of passenger train services and the closure of stations on the Glasgow-Barrhead-Kilmarnock line.

Mr. John Morris

My right hon. Friend has asked me if I will meet my hon. Friend on her behalf. I am certainly prepared to meet him by himself, but we have to make a rule of not seeing deputations about closures save in very exceptional cases. I must, however, make it clear that my right hon. Friend cannot rescind consent to the closure, though she is always ready to vary the conditions of a consent if experience shows this to be necessary.
