§ Mr. Hoosonasked the Minister of Land and Natural Resources if he will set up a mineral development commission with a view to conducting national mineral surveys, and to undertake experimental and research work for the efficient development and working of minerals in this country.
§ Mr. WilleyI agree that these two objectives are desirable, but they do not by themselves require the appointment of a new commission, and the Government have therefore already put them in hand. I have initiated measures for mineral surveys, and my right hon. Friend the Minister of Technology maintains a unit which conducts research into methods of prospecting and extraction.
