HC Deb 21 December 1966 vol 738 c357W
Dr. Bennett

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the need to safeguard consumers' interests in regard to the sale of wines, he will now introduce a Protection of Consumers Bill, including in it provisions to empower his Department to impose a code of accurate informative labelling.

Mr. Mason

As my right hon. Friend has already said, he intends to introduce a Protection of Consumers (Trade Descriptions) Bill as soon as possible. But the Food and Drugs Act, 1955, already provides wide powers to impose requirements as to the labelling of food which includes wine.
