HC Deb 21 December 1966 vol 738 c319W
Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) whether he will now indicate what help his Department will give towards those who have suffered damage in the recent floods;

(2) he is aware that the flooding of farmland in the North of Scotland has been so severe that it will be some time before the extent of the loss sustained can be estimated; and what arrangements he is making to have it estimated.

Mr. Ross

The senior inspectors of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland in every area in which flooding has occurred have been asked for urgent reports. Professional and technical officers have also been sent to inspect damage to river channels, flood banks, etc. I have nothing further at present to add to the reply I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for West Lothian (Mr. Dalyell) on 19th December.—[Vol. 738, c. 1002.]
