HC Deb 21 December 1966 vol 738 cc315-6W
Mr. Buchanan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what research has been done in regard to the development and achievements of comprehensive schools, with particular reference to the City of Glasgow where comprehensive schools have been in operation for 15 years.

Mr. Ross

I have initiated a series of conferences, mainly for headmasters and directors of education, which will enable views on the practical problems involved in the development of comprehensive schools generally to be exchanged on the basis of present experience. In addition, the Scottish Council for Research in Education is sponsoring certain projects relevant to the comprehensive system.
