Mr. Colin Jacksonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what plans Her Majesty's Government have for extending their assistance to the less developed area of North-East Thailand.
§ Mr. PadleyWhen work on the airfield at Loeng Nok Tha, which is being built for the Thai Government, is completed early next year, Her Majesty's Government have offered to retain a Royal Engineer Squadron there throughout 1967 to help the Thai authorities with road-building in an area which has hitherto lacked communications. The Thai Government have accepted this offer in principle and details are now being worked out with them. The House will be asked in due course to approve a supplementary estimate in respect of this service.
