§ 64. Mr. Henigasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make it clear in his forthcoming talks with Governments of the European Economic Community countries that, although the United Kingdom is ready to sign the Treaty of Rome, Her Majesty's Government will undertake no commitments at this stage concerning European defence arrangements outside the context of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and Western European Union.
