asked Her Majesty's Government:

In the Railways Board's estimate that the present financial improvement due to branch line and passenger station closures completed since the publication of the Beeching Report in 1963 is £17 million per annum, what the amounts are when separated under the following headings:

  1. (i) the estimated savings in working expenditure;
  2. 1826
  3. (ii) the estimated reduction in
  4. (iii) the estimated savings in in-redemption charges;
  5. (iv) the estimated loss of attributable revenue;
for each line which has been closed, and each line from which the passenger services have been withdrawn but on which other trains are still running, and for each station which has been closed but other passenger trains are still running through it.
