HC Deb 15 December 1966 vol 738 cc138-9W
Mr. Alexander W. Lyon

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what financial aid is being made available to Peru.

Mr. Oram

An agreement was signed on the 3rd December covering a loan of £500,000 for the purchase from British firms of bridging equipment required for the National Road Programme. This loan is part of the £2 million loan offered to Peru and will be repaid over 18 years, including a grace period of four years before repayments of capital begin.

A Supplementary Estimate will be presented to Parliament for approval in due course and in the meantime, if necessary, advances will be made from the Civil Contingencies Fund.
