§ Mr. Boardmanasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received from police chiefs concerning the introduction of crime prevention certificates for householders; and, in view of the demand that such a scheme would make on police 138W manpower, if he will decline to introduce it.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsI have received no representations from chief officers of police about the introduction of such a scheme. The current National Crime Prevention campaign is drawing attention to the need for householders to take adequate precautions to safeguard their property, but the introduction of a national scheme on the lines referred to in the Question would make demands on police manpower which could not be met.
