§ Mr. Russell Johnstonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland on how many days in each of the last five years the main A9 from Perth to Inverness has been closed to traffic because of snow.
§ Mr. RossThis information is not readily available. To the best of my knowledge, the numbers of occasions on which the A9 was blocked in each of the past five years in the respective counties are as follows:
Perth Inverness Winter: 1961–62 — 17 1962–63 5 17 1963–64 1 7 1964–65 4 8 1965–66 3 17 Blockages may have occurred more than once a day, and the road may have been blocked in both counties at the same time.
