HC Deb 12 December 1966 vol 738 c39W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Minister of Technology what steps he is taking to encourage scientists, over 40 years of age, in research establishments to go into school teaching, particularly sixth-form school teaching.

Mr. Benn

In conjunction with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science I am considering the recommendation made in the Interim Report of the Working Group on Manpower Parameters for Scientific Growth (Cmnd. 3102) thatfurther attention should be given to meeting demand in industry and the schools at least in part by redeployment from other sectors such as Government research establishments".

In the meantime no obstacle is placed by my Department in the way of staff wishing to transfer to teaching.
