65. Mr. Wingfield Digby

asked the Minister of Labour what is the expected income of the Engineering Industry Training Board from the levy; what consultations have been held with smaller firms; whether he is satisfied that the Board yet has the organisation and staff to meet their requirements; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gunter

The answers are as follows:

  1. (1) about £72½ million;
  2. (2) the Board is regularly in touch with smaller firms in the industry; and is well acquainted with their views.
  3. (3) I understand that the Board has a number of vacancies for training staff, but is making good progress in meeting its requirements.
