98. Mr. Marquand

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the full complement of the statistician and economist classes of the Civil Service; and how many are in post in each class.

Mr. Callaghan

The complement of the statistician class at 1st July 1966 was 224 and the number in post at that date was 165.

The Economist Class at present has 99 full-time and 32 part-time members in post.
