Osborneasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government, in view of the fact that educational standards in South Yorkshire are below the average for the rest of the country, if he will take the necessary steps to prevent the affairs of Lindsey (Lincolnshire) County Council from entering the control of South Yorkshire.
§ Mr. GreenwoodEducational standards are a matter for my right hon. Friend, but I do not envisage any change in the status of Lincolnshire, Parts of Lindsey, as a local education authority in advance of decisions about English local government as a whole following the report of the Royal Commission on Local Government in England.
