The fall in the index for the alcoholic drink group in the Index of Retail Prices from 125.7 on 20th September, 1966, to 125.6 on 18th October, 1966, was due to small falls in the average level of prices of whisky, gin and sherry.

Mr. Beaney

asked the Minister of Labour what caused the increase from 120.7 to 120.8 in the fuel item in the Index of Retail Prices.

Mrs. Shirley Williams

The rise in the index for the fuel and light group in the Index of Retail Prices from 120.7 on 20th September, 1966, to 1208 on 18th October, 1966, was due to small rises in the average levels of prices of coal and coke.
