§ Mr. GunterDuring the recent seamen's strike, the Government stated that the proposals of the Court of Inquiry under Lord Pearson represented in the Government's view a fair settlement and that any further material improvement which was not covered by an improvement in productivity and efficiency would be damaging to the national interest. There was no suggestion that the Government's view had statutory force. With regard to the other parts of the Question, my hon. Friend will be aware of recent developments in the Government's policy on prices and incomes.
