HC Deb 04 August 1966 vol 733 cc193-4W
Sir Richard Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the total number of civil servants employed by his Department full time and part time, respectively, at the last convenient date; and what increases or decreases these figures represent on the comparable figures for October, 1964, and August, 1965.

Mr. Cledwyn Hughes

On 1st July, 1966, there were 440 full-time and 29 part-time civil servants employed by the Welsh Office. These figures represent increases of 69 full-time and 7 part-time on comparable figures for 1st August, 1965. The staff of the new Welsh Office was drawn from a number of Departments from which responsibilities were transferred, and figures for October, 1964, cannot be given.
