Q12. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister what discussions he had with the Trades Union Congress General Council before the publication of Her Majesty's Government's policy on a wages standstill on 20th July; what were the dates of these meetings; and what reply the General Council made to his proposals on a wages standstill.

None. The rest of the Question does not, therefore, arise, but in accordance with the intention I indicated on 20th July my right hon. Friend the First Secretary of State and I have had a number of consultations since that statement about the steps necessary to give effect to the policy.
