§ Mr. Lubbockasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish a White Paper setting out the future programme of work for the Organisation and Methods Unit of the Treasury and the savings achieved as a result of recent investigations by that body.
§ Mr. MacDermotNo. The programme is flexible and subject to revision and is therefore not suitable for publication in a White Paper.
A quantitative assessment of all general Organisation and Methods assignments completed in the calendar years 1963 and 1964 was published as a Supplement to the Organisation and Methods Bulletin issued in May, 1965. It showed that about half the assignments produced results capable of evaluation in terms of money and that these yielded recurrent annual savings amounting to about two and a half times the total cost of the assignments. It is proposed to publish in a similar way an assessment of the 179W savings of the assignments completed in 1965 and 1966.
