HC Deb 04 August 1966 vol 733 cc164-5W
Mr. John Wells

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the total spent by his Department on advertising in the past year; and by what sum he intends to reduce it in the current year as a result of the present economic situation.

Mr. Mason

Expenditure by and on behalf of the Board of Trade in 1965–66 was £195,365, and of the Export Credits Guarantee Department £57,277. The Board of Trade's expenditure will be increased in the current year in order to support measures to strengthen the economy and promote exports. The expenditure of the Export Credits Guarantee Department will be about the same as last year.
