HC Deb 04 August 1966 vol 733 c186W
Rear-Admiral Morgan Giles

asked the Secretary of State for defence what reduction in the defence budget for 1969–70 would result from dispensing with the Gurkha Brigade and with an equivalent force of British troops, respectively.

Mr. Ennals

Dispensing with the Brigade of Gurkhas would save about £13 million on the present level of expenditure; an equivalent force of British troops would save about £15.5 million.
